Throughout the years, Cena has not just mentioned the seven-member K-Pop group for publicity. He has consistently expressed his gratitude to the band and their fans, the BTS ARMY, for providing him with inspiration during a period of personal doubt and uncertainty. With sincerity and excitement, Cena has shared how BTS’ music and message positively influenced his perspective, and how he discovered comfort in unexpected areas.

In several interviews, Cena has shared how BTS inspired him to embrace vulnerability and appreciate his self-worth. In a show, he mentioned that BTS’ 2018 album, Love Yourself: Answer, encouraged him to share messages of self-acceptance online.

He was initially hesitant to do this, concerned about how it will be received from a prominent WWE personality. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I really gotta thank K-Pop, gotta thank BTS for supporting me in a moment of weakness, and turning it into a passion of mine.”

The revelation gradually received a flurry of support, showing a side of Cena – the individual behind the Never Give Up motto dealing with feelings of self-doubt.

Cena’s admiration for the BTS is also a bit specific. He has consistently expressed his admiration for the group’s rappers, particularly RM and J-Hope. During a fan Q&A session, Cena mentioned, “J-Hope is my guy.” He further commented that BTS found him at the right time in his life.
