Sitaare Zameen Par box office Day 6: Aamir Khan’s film steady during weekdays

Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is going to enter its second weekend in style. The film has crossed Rs 80 crore nett in its first week, and is now eyeing the benchmark of Rs 100 crore.

Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is enjoying a solid run during the weekdays. It collected Rs 8.5 crore nett on both Monday and Tuesday, and while Wednesday saw a slight dip, the overall collection seems good. ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ stands at Rs 82.40 crore nett after six days in India.

  • Friday: Rs 10.7 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 20.2 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 27.25 crore
  • Monday: Rs 8.5 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 8.5 crore
  • Wednesday: Rs 7.25 crore

The social comedy will see some competition in theatres from ‘Maa’, which is hitting the screens this Friday. The Kajol-starrer is a horror drama, and will pose a challenge to the smooth run of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’.

It will be interesting to see how Khan’s film manages to sail through the second weekend unscathed. A lot also depends on the kind of word-of-mouth that ‘Maa’ receives.

Meanwhile, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is also looking at surpassing ‘Ghajini’s’ lifetime run by the end of its second weekend at the box office. The 2008 film collected Rs 114 crore nett, and ‘SZP’ is expected to go past this figure after the second Sunday.
