Public Review: Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par Wins Hearts

Aamir Khan is back on the big screen, and fans couldn’t be happier. His latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, hit theatres today and is already being celebrated as one of the most emotional and inspiring Bollywood films in recent memory. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film stars Genelia Deshmukh alongside Aamir Khan and features 10 neurodivergent actors in prominent roles. The film is a spiritual successor to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, and according to many viewers, it lives up to or even surpasses expectations.

The story follows a disgraced basketball coach, played by Aamir, who is ordered to train a team of young people with intellectual disabilities after a drunk driving accident. What starts as a reluctant job soon transforms into a heartfelt journey of connection, understanding, and growth.

Fans flooded social media after watching early shows, calling it a “masterpiece”, a “perfect family entertainer,” and “an emotional rollercoaster.” “Aamir is a magician. He is bringing back the old Bollywood era. Again, he has proved why he is the GOAT in the Indian film industry,” wrote one fan on X, giving the film a perfect 5/5 rating. It’s incredibly reassuring that a superstar like Aamir would put his time, money & face into a film this bold and risky.” Though Sitaare Zameen Par is a remake of the Spanish film Champions, fans feel it has been adapted beautifully to suit Indian sensibilities, culture, and emotion. The performances of the debutant actors, especially the neurodivergent cast, are being hailed as “natural and heartwarming.”

Aamir has confirmed that the film will only release in theatres, with no OTT launch planned. With such strong word-of-mouth and emotional appeal, Sitaare Zameen Par is likely to enjoy a long and successful run.
