Narain’s Delightful Encounter With Tabu Sparks Kaithi 2 Buzz

Actor Narain recently took to social media to share a picture with none other than Tabu, taken during Kalyan Jewellers’ Navaratri celebrations. Alongside the photograph, he quoted a line from the classic track Enna Solla Pogirai from Kandukondain Kandukondain, which featured Tabu in a central role alongside Aishwarya Rai, Mammootty, and Abbas.

In his post, Narain expressed sheer joy at finally meeting the actress he described as “super talented” and even one of his all-time favourites. What made the moment even more special is the cinematic connection between them. Both actors have played leading police officers in films that share a direct lineage. Narain as Inspector Bejoy in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi (2019), and Tabu as SP Diana in Ajay Devgn’s Hindi reimagining of the film, Bholaa (2023).

A Character’s Fate and a Sequel’s Promise

While Narain’s Bejoy meets his end in Kaithi, the actor has now hinted that his journey in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe may not be over. Speaking about the highly awaited Kaithi 2, Narain revealed that discussions are underway for his return, though he kept details under wraps. With Karthi reprising his role and Lokesh Kanagaraj once again at the helm, the sequel is shaping up to be one of Tamil cinema’s most anticipated projects.

Fans of the LCU know how integral Kaithi has been in laying the foundation for Lokesh’s larger cinematic blueprint, later expanded in Vikram and Leo. Inspector Bejoy’s character itself was one of the starting points that inspired Lokesh to weave a shared narrative universe, making Narain’s comeback all the more significant.

The director has also teased that Kaithi 2 might feature familiar faces from other LCU films, blurring lines between franchises in true crossover fashion. When asked about Bejoy’s supposed death, Narain playfully commented, “No — he has not died, he will not die,” leaving fans guessing whether the cop’s story ended in the first film or is about to be rewritten.
