Seth Rogen Is “Legitimately Embarrassed” by How Many Emmys ‘The Studio’ Won

Seth Rogen had exactly nothing to be embarrassed about on Sunday night. After winning best actor, best writing and best directing for a comedy series for The Studio, the Apple TV+ Hollywood-sendup series won best comedy at the 2025 Emmy Awards.

“It’s getting embarrassing. I really appreciate it,” Rogen said in accepting the biggie. “In all honesty… I’ll do my best attempt at sincerity here. If you watched our show, if you appreciated our show, if you voted for our show especially, thank you very much. I’m legitimately embarrassed by how happy this makes me.

“To be standing up here with all of these people — these are the best people I know,” he continued. “And to have them spend their days with me, working with me, is truly one of the great honors of my life.”

Even Apple CEO Tim Cook, in attendance at the Emmys, received a shoutout from the stage.

The Studio beat out Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking and What We Do in the Shadows. The Studio had tied the record for the most nominations (23, like The Bear in 2024) in a single year for a comedy series. In winning 13 awards, it broke The Bear’s record for comedy wins (from last year).

Elsewhere in the genre, Jean Smart won best lead actress in a comedy for Hacks, her fourth win (out of four tries) win for playing Deborah Vance on the HBO Max series. Best supporting actress went to Hannah Einbinder, Smart’s counterpart in Hacks. Unlike Smart, it was Einbinder’s first win. In one of the night’s biggest surprises, Jeff Hiller took best supporting actor in a comedy for HBO’s Somebody Somewhere.

At the 2024 Emmys, Hacks won best comedy series along with best comedy actress (Smart) and writing for a comedy series. Though it didn’t win the night’s final trophy, The Bear set a new record for most wins in a single season for a comedy with 11, surpassing its own tally of 10 from the year before.

The 2025 Creative Arts Emmys took place last weekend; find the winners from Saturday here and from Sunday here.
