Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the movie is based on the intense 2020 conflict between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh. The first look of Khan’s character was unveiled last month. In the motion poster, he appeared with bloodstains on his face, a sharp moustache, and a powerful expression filled with pride and determination.
The battle took place high up in the Ladakh region, over 15,000 feet above sea level. It was a deadly hand-to-hand confrontation between Indian and Chinese soldiers that took place on June 15, 2020. Because firearms were banned in the area under a prior agreement, soldiers fought using sticks, stones, and their bare hands. The event resulted in multiple casualties on both sides and marked the first deaths in a border conflict between India and China in over 45 years.

Salman Khan spoke about the physical challenges he faced while playing his character in the film. He said, “It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I have to give more time now. Earlier, I would manage it in one or two weeks, but now I’m running, kicking, punching, and doing all that stuff. This film demands that. For instance, in Sikandar, the action was different, the character was different. But this is physically difficult, especially shooting in Ladakh, at high altitudes and in cold water.”
