India marks its 79th Independence Day today. The tricolour flies high, carrying with it stories of resilience, unity and hope. For Mona Singh, who grew up in an Army family, the day holds personal significance. Independence Day is not just a national holiday but a moment to reflect on the nation’s journey and a powerful reminder of the importance of cherishing freedom.

Speaking to Filmfare, she said, “Independence Day has always been a day of joy and pride for me. Being an army kid, and staying in Nagpur, studying at Kendriya Vidyalaya Vayusena Nagar for a bit, the celebrations everywhere were full of excitement! The flag-hoisting ceremonies, patriotic songs echoing through the school grounds, and heartfelt performances that brought our country’s history to life.”

The actress continued, “I still remember the energy of those days, when we’d rehearse for weeks for our skits and dances, feeling such a strong connection to India’s journey. Even now, every Independence Day takes me back to those moments, reminding me that our freedom is a gift earned through countless sacrifices. And as I’ve said before, reflecting on our nation’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of cherishing and safeguarding our freedom — for today and for generations to come.”

On the film front, she will be seen in Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos. It is also being reported that she will play a key role in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, Ba***ds of Bollywood.
