Mahavatar Narsimha Enters The Rs 100 Crore Club

Director Ashwin Kumar’s latest release Mahavatar Narsimha has hit a major milestone and is showing no signs of slowing down. With its Tuesday numbers pushing it past the Rs 100 crore nett mark in India, the film continues to hold strong during weekdays, performing better than several recent releases. Called the country’s highest grossing animated film, it has turned into a massive crowd puller and is on its way to setting new records.

The mythological saga, which released on July 25, marks the beginning of the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe and explores the story of Hiranyakashipu and his son Prahalad’s unwavering devotion to Lord Vishnu. The film has grown steadily since its opening day figure of Rs 1.75 crore nett, reaching its peak with Rs 23.1 crore nett on its second Sunday. With consistent weekday numbers like Rs 7.35 crore and Rs 7.75 crore on Monday and Tuesday, its current total stands at Rs 106.05 crore nett. Hindi and Telugu versions are especially driving the film’s success.

Backed by Kleem Productions and presented by Hombale Films, known for hits like KGF Kantara and Salaar, Mahavatar Narsimha has resonated with viewers across age groups. Sharing his thoughts on the film’s overwhelming reception, Hombale Films’ co-founder Chaluve Gowda said, “We’re absolutely overwhelmed and humbled by the response. Following the success of Mahavatar Narsimha, the makers have confirmed that work on the next chapter in the franchise Mahavatar Parasuram is already underway.
