Homebound Starring Ishaan Khatter & Janhvi Kapoor to Close Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025
Homebound, featuring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, had its world premiere at Cannes 2025. After being showcased on a global stage, it was announced that the film would be heading to TIFF50 (Toronto International Film Festival). Now, Karan Johar has confirmed that this film will also be screened at the Indian Film Festival Of Melbourne. Notably, Homebound has been selected as the closing film for the festival.
During an interview, Karan Johar confirmed the news, saying, “Homebound is a story of aspiration, identity, and the quiet heartbreak that comes with change. Neeraj has crafted a hauntingly beautiful film. To showcase it as the closing film at IFFM is the perfect next step in its journey.”

For those unaware, the film is set to be screened on August 24. Meanwhile, Neeraj provided some insight into the true essence of Homebound. He said, “Homebound explores the fragile threads of friendship, ambition, and the emotional cost of breaking free to come into your own.”
A few months ago, the legendary Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese took on the role of executive producer for Homebound. In an official statement, Martin Scorsese shared that he watched Neeraj’s first film, Masaan, and was quite impressed with the project.

Reflecting on their collaboration, he said, “So, when Mélita Toscan du Plantier sent me the project of his second film, I was curious. I loved the story, the culture and was willing to help. Neeraj has made a beautifully crafted film that’s a significant contribution to Indian cinema. I am glad the movie is an official selection at Un Certain Regard in Cannes this year.”
However, the creators of Homebound have not yet revealed the date for its theatrical release, leaving fans speculating for it.
