Is Anurag Basu Reworking on Script of Kartik Aaryan-Sreeleela’s Romantic Film?

Since its release, Saiyaara has enjoyed huge success at the box office. With Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, both newcomers, in the leading roles, the film has successfully grabbed the interest of viewers. Comparisons to the upcoming romantic film ft. Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela have begun to emerge, leading to director Anurag Basu addressing the differences between the two films and how his project has been delayed due to someone else’s success.

Notably, Mohit Suri had previously mentioned that Saiyaara was initially planned as a script for Aashiqui but eventually developed into its own independent film. As Saiyaara continues to impress audiences, focus has now turned to the next film in the similar genre which is being directed by Anurag Basu and featuresKartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. The film is untitled till date. 

Recent reports have suggested that the release of that film might be delayed due to alterations in the script. However, Anurag Basu has now directly responded to these rumours. In an interview, he provided clarification, saying, “Mohit and I are very close. I’m happy for his film’s success. The only similarity between our films is that the male lead is a rockstar, the stories are otherwise very different. In my film, the girl doesn’t have dementia or any other condition. I was aware of the Alzheimer’s angle in Saiyaara, so there’s no reason to repeat it in my story.” 

Anurag also mentioned that the film is reported to have completed approximately 40% of its shooting. He shared, “In August and September, we plan another schedule where Kartik will appear clean-shaven. Right now, he’s filming Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which requires a different look. Continuity is the only challenge. Once he wraps that, we’ll lock the next phase.” 

Meanwhile, Saiyaara has proven to be one of the most successful releases of 2025. It has earned over Rs 350 crore worldwide in just eleven days, thanks to its hit music and positive audience feedback. On the other hand, Anurag Basu’s next is aiming at an early 2026 release.
