Box Office Report: Saiyaara & Fantastic Four Have a Firm Grip on The Cash Counters
It’s a box office battle between Bollywood’s emotional new hit Saiyaara and Marvel’s superhero reboot The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and the numbers are in.
Released on July 18, Saiyaara has turned out to be a massive hit, raking in Rs 190.25 crore in just 8 days. Starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the romantic drama opened with a solid Rs 21.5 crore and showed consistent growth throughout the week, ending its first 7 days with Rs 172.75 crore. The film’s second Friday added another Rs 17.50 crore, making it the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, just behind Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (585.7 crore Rs).
Despite being newcomers, Ahaan and Aneet have struck gold with their chemistry and emotionally charged performances. Saiyaara tells the heart-tugging story of a rising rockstar who falls in love with a gifted songwriter diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. While some online chatter has compared its plot to the Korean film A Moment to Remember, the movie continues to win hearts and headlines alike.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps opened in Indian theatres the same weekend. Facing tough competition from Saiyaara, the superhero film had a decent but modest start, earning Rs 5.10 crore net on Day 1, as per early Sacnilk estimates.
The film stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the iconic team, and sees the Fantastic Four taking on Galactus, a cosmic entity out to devour Earth. Despite being the third reboot of the franchise, it marks Marvel’s effort to reintroduce the team within the MCU, this time with a unique 1960s retro-futuristic setting.

While Fantastic Four saw strong attendance in metros like Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, NCR, and Ahmedabad, especially during evening and night shows, it couldn’t match the frenzy around Saiyaara. Industry experts suggest Fantastic Four might pick up pace over the weekend thanks to strong word-of-mouth from Marvel loyalists, but the clear winner at the Indian box office this week is Saiyaara.
